I've been shooting Ilford sheet film HP5 for quite some time but a month or so ago I thought I'd try the Arista 100 film. There was this old school building in Planiville, MA that I'd been meaning to document and so I loaded a film holder, grabbed my gear and took off. The problem is I forgot that the film speed was rated at 100. I was still thinking 400 film and so I underexposed two sheets. My friend Bill Harting, who processes my film in his lab did his best to process these sheets. He researched for several days for the best way to bring out the image...and frankly he did a good job.
Another problem, after talking to other photographer friends, is that Arista 100 should probably be shot at half that speed! The image below is the best that could be attained. Needless to say I'll be heading out soon to retake this image.
